CDB is happy to announce that Andrea Stout, PhD, Director of the Microscopy Core and Adjunct Assistant Professor in Cell and Developmental Biology has won the 2022 Core Director Award. These awards honor the exemplary leadership and dedication of our core directors, whose facilities serve as an integral catalyst for PSOM’s groundbreaking research.Congratulations Andrea!
Dr. Morris-Blanco’s laboratory will investigate epigenetic mechanisms involved in stroke pathophysiology by examining the interplay between spatial and temporal epigenetic dynamics, transcriptional regulation, and mitochondrial function in the post-stroke brain. Using both in vitro and in vivo experimental stroke models, her work will employ gene-specific and genome wide assessments of epigenomic organization, single-cell omics, metabolomics, and functional assessments of mitochondria and neuroprotection. Dr. Morris-Blanco is especially interested in using these mechanistic studies to develop novel treatment strategies, with the goal of translating epigenetic therapies to the clinic.
